Mineral Sunscreen

Sunscreen that provides coverage from both UVA & UVB rays. DermaQuest Sunscreen contains only the top two sunscreen filters: Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide.

Zinc Oxide is an effective form of sunscreen – classified as a physical barrier substance. Micronized zinc oxide when paired with titanium dioxide provides stronger protection against UVA ultraviolet radiation and is used in suntan lotion. It is a powered mineral that is applied to and stays on the surface of the skin, absorbing, scattering and reflecting UVA and UVB rays.

Zinc Oxide is the only active sunscreen ingredient that provides full spectrum coverage of UVB and long and short UVA rays by itself. Titanium Dioxide is the next best ingredient that covers both UVA and UVB, although it does not cover long UVA rays.

Titanium dioxide is made in varying particle sizes, in specific grades for the cosmetic industry and is both water and oil dispersible. Sensitive skin sunscreens are often created with a titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide, due to the fact that natural mineral UV blockers are less likely to cause skin irritation in comparison to other UV absorbing ingredients.
• Matrixyl® 3000 (Pamitoyl Oligopeptide and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7):This is a new and improved version of Matrixyl but having a peptide combination that reduces wrinkle depth and skin roughness. Thesepeptides work together to promote the production of collagen, increasing the extra cellular matrix and encourage the production hyaluronic acid in the skin.
