Mandelic acid
Mandelic acid is a mild ?-hydroxy acid belonging to the group of AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) acids, the so-called fruit acids. It occurs naturally in nature, it is obtained during hydrolysis from the extract of bitter almonds, cherry seeds and peach.
It has a large molecule that gradually penetrates deep into the skin, thanks to which it works more gently and slower without irritating the skin. It dissolves in water, ethanol and ether. It is often used to prepare the skin before other treatments or to strengthen other chemical peels or cleansing treatments with the use of apparatus. After peeling with mandelic acid, the connections of the epidermis cells with intercellular cement are loosened, thanks to which it is gently exfoliated and the active ingredients are better absorbed.
